IHRC Geneva, Africa HQ
The International Human Rights Commission (IHRC) Geneva, Africa Headquarters serves as the regional hub for advancing human rights, diplomatic excellence, and international cooperation across the African continent.
Dr. Saiful I. Dildar
Dr. Saiful I. Dildar, International Secretary General of the IHRC Geneva, has been a stalwart
advocate for human rights in Bangladesh and the Indian subcontinent. His tireless efforts
to promote peace and human rights have earned him international recognition. Notably,
Dr. Dildar was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2021, a testament to his dedication
to safeguarding human rights and promoting peace.
In June 2023, Dr. Dildar, along with 10 human rights workers, was arrested and imprisoned
without charge. Their detention appears to be linked to the publication of a report
exposing the illegality of the previous autocratic government’s elections in Bangladesh.
This move has sparked concerns about the state of human rights in the country.
As the founder of the Bangladesh Human Rights Commission (BHRC), Dr. Dildar has worked
closely with the International Human Rights Commission (IHRC) Geneva. His contributions
to human rights have earned him a reputation as a high-profile diplomat within the
international community. The IHRC Geneva (Africa Headquarters), under the leadership of
Amb. Dr. Tivlumun Innocent Ahure, Head of Delegation/High Commissioner for the 55 African
countries, has been actively involved in promoting Dr. Dildar’s work.
Amb. Dr. Ahure spearheaded efforts to garner support for Dr. Dildar’s Nobel Peace Prize
nomination in 2021. He says he found great value in actively working on a collection of
recommendations from African leaders and nationalists which was compiled to demonstrate
Dr. Dildar’s eligibility for the prestigious award.
Given Dr. Dildar’s achievements in promoting peace and human rights, it is imperative that
the new authorities in Bangladesh recognize his contributions. The Bangladesh Human Rights
Commission (BHRC), founded by Dr. Dildar, has been working tirelessly to promote human
rights in the country and beyond. Honoring Dr. Dildar would not only acknowledge his
dedication to human rights but also underscore the importance of promoting peace and human
rights in Bangladesh.
